ATTA Beijing Round Table Dinner

On July 2, 2017 several members of ATTA Beijing convened at the Capital Club for a round table dinner to discuss current trade issues, promotion of ATTA in Beijing, and forthcoming presentations to visiting EMBA groups and MBA programs this autumn.

The general sense is that business  has become more difficult since the introduction of tariffs.  And also that the Huawei issue was more serious and broad based than some members understood.  This is not an issue going away easily and could affect several aspects of revenue and profitability in the next several months.

Beijing members look forward to hearing about the 2019 ATTA annual conference and AGM.  We hope to see a recommended theme and set session ideas by late August.  This is usually a board responsibility, but Beijing members are happy to help.  We would like a conference this year, not just an AGM, to make a trip to Hong Kong worthwhile – or perhaps hold the conference in Shanghai.

Members thought a conference dinner is appropriate, but should drop the Awards until the organization is much larger, or at least reduce the  categories to make the judging of awards easier to manage.

The group discussed the new logo.  All felt the new logo was acceptable.  However, it was noted that the larger sizing makes it difficult to work with on power point presentations, and that perhaps it could be fine-tuned  to the same sizing of the original logo.

Bob Fonow announced his intention to run for an ATTA  board of directors position with special responsibility for representing  and developing ATTA opportunities  in North America in 2020.

Attending:  Dwight Nordstrom, Lesli Ligorner, Russell Brown, Maria Wu, Bob Fonow.
Late regrets from Christoph Hezel and The Mintz Group.
